About Issues

Conversations on Philanthropy provides a venue for interdisciplinary research and reflection about the ways in which we promote human excellence through voluntary action and giving. In these volumes, to be published semi-annually, we hope to inspire our readers to reflect more deeply and critically about questions such as the most appropriate relationship between government and the not-for-profit sector, about the integrative role of gifts in a free society, about the tools and information needed to enable donors to give more purposefully and effectively, about the very foundations of philanthropy and voluntary action in a free society.

Conversations on Philanthropy will appeal to all those who strive to renew and recreate the core values of our society. Whether you are a poet, a philosopher, a scientist, a nonprofit executive, a social entrepreneur, or a benefactor of large or small means, we hope you will participate in our on-going discussion of how members of a free society best attend to the public business.
